Buying Flash Memory
By robhampton
It's getting smaller, yet bigger
It never ceases to amaze me how small the size of the flash drives are getting, yet they continue to grow in memory size. They hold gigabytes worth of information and work with nearly all newer media devices. Cameras, MP3 players, phones, computers, and even TVs now use them.
CD's and DVD's don't hold nearly the amount of information that flash drives do and so are being used less. My DVD player takes both DVD's as well as a flash drive which read most types of media files (Windows media, mpeg, avi, etc.) So if you download movies to your computer often and burn them onto dvd to watch, I would consider switching to flash media as you can overwrite the files as many times as you like.
As mentioned above, many DVD players and TV's now accept flash media. It is becoming more common and also less expensive. For example, a 32 GigaByte flash drive would store, well about 32 movies in AVI format as AVI's are usually between 750 MB to 1 GB.
Besides just movies they are great for transferring and bringing data with you anywhere you go like from home to office.
Get one today because if you use a computer, you'll certainly use a flash drive.
Types of flash memory
The most common and one you're probably familiar with is the USB drive. It just simply plugs into the USB port on your computer and is recognized as an external drive.
The SD cards are used commonly in cameras and other media devices. Most computers now have an SD card slot which makes it easy to transfer pictures. SD cards can store most types of data, not just pictures.
